Deltarune Chapter 5 Has a Release Date — and Chapter 6 Is Already in Motion
For the first time in Deltarune's history, a future chapter is confirmed in progress before its predecessor has even launched.
Toby Fox has announced a release date for Deltarune Chapter 5 — and buried the real headline right alongside it: Chapter 6 is already in development.
Per IGN’s coverage of the announcement, Fox didn’t just drop a date and disappear. He confirmed that two chapters are in active development simultaneously, the first time that’s happened at any point in Deltarune’s release history. Chapter 5 is dated; Chapter 6 is already in motion before fans have played a single second of it.
That’s a meaningfully different posture from where this project has lived for most of its life. Deltarune was first announced in 2018, and its chapter-by-chapter rollout has been defined more by patience than pace. Having back-to-back chapters confirmed — one with a date, one with confirmed in-progress status — is the hardest evidence of forward momentum the game has ever produced.
Two chapters in motion at once means the pipeline is wider than at any prior point in Deltarune’s release history. Whether that translates to a faster cadence between Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 than between earlier releases is the real question worth watching. For now, Fox has answered the one fans have been asking longest: Chapter 5 is coming, and the work isn’t stopping there.
